SUMMARY:Axe Rivers Festival
DESCRIPTION:The Axe Rivers Festival is a week‑long celebration of the landscapes\, wildlife and communities shaped by the River Axe and its tributaries. Through immersive storytelling\, guided walks\, creative experiences and hands‑on activities\, the Festival invites people of all ages and backgrounds to connect more deeply with the living world on their doorstep. \n  \nFrom intimate audio journeys and film screenings to family-friendly wetland adventures\, night walks and opportunities to explore the science and history of river restoration\, each event opens a window onto a different part of the river’s story. Together they highlight not only the beauty and character of the Axe\, but also the shared responsibility we have in caring for it. \n  \nAbove all\, the Axe Rivers Festival is an invitation to learn\, to wonder\, to celebrate\, and to take part in a healthier future for our rivers. \n  \nMore information about the Festival including a line up of each event\, coming soon.

SUMMARY:Balancing the Scales - Screening and discussion
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a screening of Balancing the Scales\, a powerful and beautifully produced film from the Beaver Trust that follows the ecological\, social and practical implications of bringing beavers back into our landscapes. The film delves into one of the most pressing ecological questions of our time: can beavers and migratory fish successfully coexist? \nTo open the event\, we will welcome Dr Rob Needham\, Restoration Manager at the Beaver Trust\, who will give us a short introduction to the film. Following the film there will be opportunities to ask questions and discuss what a beaver-inclusive future might look like here. \nMore information: New Film Explores the Relationship Between Beaver Restoration and Migratory Fish Conservation – Beaver Trust \n \nFacilities\nAll parts of the Guildhall are fully accessible for wheelchair users. There is a ramp in the foyer\, taking you in to the auditorium and lift access to all other floors. A wheelchair accessible toilet can be found on the ground floor in the foyer. \n  \nWe have a Hearing Loop system installed in the Auditorium. If you require this facility\, please notify us at point of booking or when discussing your room setup to ensure it is made available. \n  \nChard Guildhall welcomes assistance animals in any of our hireable rooms. \n  \nThere is an accessible toilet on the ground floor in the foyer area\, where baby changing is also available. Male and female toilets can be found on the first floor.
